Rapid Growth Projections for Smart Grid Network Management Systems

Zpryme, a US based research organization predicts that the market for smart grid network management systems will grow from an investment level of $ 225 million in 2012 to $ 1.05 billion in 2020, at an impressive growth rate of 21 percent. The expenditure on smart grid technology will increase at the global level as well and will reach $46.4 billion in 2015.

For an installed base of 30 million smart meters in the US, the focus is no longer the management of electricity and consumption, but an array of technologies such as communication networks, WI-FI and transmission controls. It is increasingly important to integrate smart grid management with localized energy production using solar, wind and other means, as well as with a variety of uses such as individual health monitoring and control of water, transportation and energy infrastructures in urban areas.
